Hisham Melhem, the Washington bureau chief of Al-Arabiya, writes in POLITICO:

Arab civilization has collapsed. It won’t recover in my lifetime.

With his decision to use force against the violent extremists of the Islamic State, President Obama is doing more than to knowingly enter a quagmire. He is doing more than play with the fates of two half-broken countries—Iraq and Syria—whose societies were gutted long before the Americans appeared on the horizon. Obama is stepping once again—and with understandably great reluctance—into the chaos of an entire civilization that has broken down.

Arab civilization, such as we knew it, is all but gone. The Arab world today is more violent, unstable, fragmented and driven by extremism—the extremism of the rulers and those in opposition—than at any time since the collapse of the Ottoman Empire a century ago. Every hope of modern Arab history has been betrayed. The promise of political empowerment, the return of politics, the restoration of human dignity heralded by the season of Arab uprisings in their early heydays—all has given way to civil wars, ethnic, sectarian and regional divisions and the reassertion of absolutism, both in its military and atavistic forms. With the dubious exception of the antiquated monarchies and emirates of the Gulf—which for the moment are holding out against the tide of chaos—and possibly Tunisia, there is no recognizable legitimacy left in the Arab world.

Is it any surprise that, like the vermin that take over a ruined city, the heirs to this self-destroyed civilization should be the nihilistic thugs of the Islamic State? And that there is no one else who can clean up the vast mess we Arabs have made of our world but the Americans and Western countries?

No one paradigm or one theory can explain what went wrong in the Arab world in the last century. There is no obvious set of reasons for the colossal failures of all the ideologies and political movements that swept the Arab region: Arab nationalism, in its Baathist and Nasserite forms; various Islamist movements; Arab socialism; the rentier state and rapacious monopolies, leaving in their wake a string of broken societies. No one theory can explain the marginalization of Egypt, once the center of political and cultural gravity in the Arab East, and its brief and tumultuous experimentation with peaceful political change before it reverted back to military rule.

Nor is the notion of “ancient sectarian hatreds” adequate to explain the frightening reality that along a front stretching from Basra at the mouth of the Persian Gulf to Beirut on the Mediterranean there exists an almost continuous bloodletting between Sunni and Shia—the public manifestation of an epic geopolitical battle for power and control pitting Iran, the Shia powerhouse, against Saudi Arabia, the Sunni powerhouse, and their proxies.

There is no one single overarching explanation for that tapestry of horrors in Syria and Iraq, where in the last five years more than a quarter of a million people perished, where famed cities like Aleppo, Homs and Mosul were visited by the modern terror of Assad’s chemical weapons and the brutal violence of the Islamic State. How could Syria tear itself apart and become—like Spain in the 1930s—the arena for Arabs and Muslims to re-fight their old civil wars? The war waged by the Syrian regime against civilians in opposition areas combined the use of Scud missiles, anti-personnel barrel bombs as well as medieval tactics against towns and neighborhoods such as siege and starvation. For the first time since the First World War, Syrians were dying of malnutrition and hunger.

Iraq’s story in the last few decades is a chronicle of a death foretold. The slow death began with Saddam Hussein’s fateful decision to invade Iran in September 1980. Iraqis have been living in purgatory ever since with each war giving birth to another. In the midst of this suspended chaos, the U.S. invasion in 2003 was merely a catalyst that allowed the violent chaos to resume in full force.

President Obama this week committed professional suicide.

Let me explain.

There is a theory in politics that once a leader has fired 50 or more people from his or her administration, he or she is finished.

The reason being that by creating so many enemies ‘outside the tent’, the tent itself becomes too deluged with poisonous bile to avoid sinking into a quagmire of back-stabbing ignominy.

President Obama spoke about the rise of ISIS in Syria in a televised interview with 60 Minutes, which aired Sunday night. He threw the intelligence community under the bus

Obama went a lot further than firing 50 people.

He managed to single-handedly alienate 200,000 employees in the American intelligence agencies by going on 60 Minutes and ruthlessly chucking them all under a bus over the rise of terror group ISIS.

Bungling Secret Service allowed a three-time felon carrying a firearm to travel in an elevator with Obama this month

‘James Clapper (Director of National Intelligence) has acknowledged that they underestimated what had been taking place in Syria,’ he said, when asked how ISIS’ influence could have spread so fast.

As Governor Chris Christie pointed out, by saying ‘they’ rather than ‘we’, Obama tried to distance himself from any personal responsibility or accountability for what has been a catastrophic failure to act over the greatest terror threat facing the world since Osama Bin Laden.

A more shameless, reprehensible display of buck-passing it would be hard to find from a sitting President.

No wonder Secret Service gets complacent guarding the President when complacency oozes from his pores.

And for what purpose?

All that will happen now is that those maligned intelligence agencies will exact cold-blooded revenge on Obama by drip-feeding negative stories about him until he’s gone.

It’s what they do.

The truth is that Obama is the one who underestimated ISIS, plunging his head ostrich-like into the sand and hoping they would go away without having to do anything to actually make them go away.

There were clear, unambiguous public warnings made nearly a year ago in front of the Foreign Affairs Committee that ISIS was on the march in Syria and Iraq.

But perhaps Obama missed them.

Hardly surprising when we discover yesterday that he has only attended 42.1 percent of his Presidential Daily intelligence briefings.

No wonder the Secret Service gets complacent when The Boss exudes complacency from every pore.
President Obama playing golf at Farm Neck on Martha's Vineyard in August just minutes after his speech about journalist James Foley’s execution by ISIS

Obama prides himself on a ‘leading from behind’ American strategy to confronting global terrorism and the current chaos raging throughout the Middle East.

But refusing to intervene in conflicts like Syria has so far proved to be spectacularly self-defeating.

Far from making America stronger, Obama has made the world’s greatest military power look weak.

So weak that these Jihadist thugs think they can behead American citizens with impunity in glossy snuff movies.

Imagine how emboldened they must have felt when Obama made his ‘heartfelt’ speech about journalist James Foley’s execution, and was then seen laughing and joking on the golf course SEVEN MINUTES later.

Obama has so far played golf 192 times since becoming President.

Even Rory McIlroy would struggle to match such enthusiasm for the game.

But Rory isn’t the Leader of the Free World, and with such a title comes huge responsibility.

The kind of responsibility that Obama seems so keen to shirk.

It’s time he got off the damn golf course, got up to speed with his intelligence briefings and focused on wiping out ISIS.

Before they wipe out more of the people he serves.

Qatar – Saudi Arabia ‘have ignited time bomb by funding global spread of radical Islam’ says UK General

October 7, 2014 by Ahmed Hussein

british official qatar and saudi arabia have ignited time bomb by funding global spread of radical islam Qatar Saudi Arabia have ignited time bomb by funding global spread of radical Islam says UK General

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) General Jonathan Shaw, Britain’s former Assistant Chief of the Defence Staff, says Qatar and Saudi Arabia responsible for spread of radical Islam.

Qatar and Saudi Arabia have ignited a “time bomb” by funding the global spread of radical Islam, according to a former commander of British forces in Iraq.

General Jonathan Shaw, who retired as Assistant Chief of the Defence Staff in 2012, told The Telegraph that Qatar and Saudi Arabia were primarily responsible for the rise of the extremist Islam that inspires Isil terrorists.

The two Gulf states have spent billions of dollars on promoting a militant and proselytising interpretation of their faith derived from Abdul Wahhab, an eighteenth century scholar, and based on the Salaf, or the original followers of the Prophet.

But the rulers of both countries are now more threatened by their creation than Britain or America, argued Gen Shaw. The Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (Isil) has vowed to topple the Qatari and Saudi regimes, viewing both as corrupt outposts of decadence and sin.

So Qatar and Saudi Arabia have every reason to lead an ideological struggle against Isil, said Gen Shaw. On its own, he added, the West’s military offensive against the terrorist movement was likely to prove “futile”.

Cold Turkey

By Michael Curtis

College students should be able to answer some simple questions. Which country in the Middle East has been declared guilty of “ethnic cleansing?” Which country in the area has prevented the return of refugees to their homes and former properties? Which country has flouted Article 49 of the 4th Geneva Convention of August 1949 that prohibits an occupying power from deporting or transferring parts of its own civilian population into the territory it occupies? Which country is responsible for a unilateral declaration of independence? Contrary to what they may hear from their professors, the correct answer is that all these things are performed by Turkey.

Turkey is not the flavor of the month.

The Terror Threat of Weaponized Muslims
By Thomas Lifson

Two terror attacks in Canada this week by recent converts to Islam have exposed the clear and present danger created by the violent rhetoric of the Koran. Credit Prime Minister Harper for having the guts to use the T-word while President Obama’s team continues to pretend that Muslim fanatics shouting jihadist rhetoric and shooting or beheading innocents are “workplace violence.”

But there are some uncomfortable conclusions to be drawn from the terror acts committed by Martin Couture-Rouleau, a recent convert to Islam who ran over one soldier and injured another, and Michael Zehaf-Bibeau, who, it is reported, returned to the Islamic faith of his father. The Toronto Globe and Mail reports:

Mr. Zehaf-Bibeau was born in 1982 and was the son of Bulgasem Zehaf, a Quebec businessman who appears to have fought in 2011 in Libya, and Susan Bibeau, the deputy chairperson of a division of Canada’s Immigration and Refugee Board. The two were divorced in 1999. (snip)

Mr. Zehaf-Bibeau grew up in Eastern Canada, including Ottawa and Montreal, and had spent time in Libya before moving to Western Canada to become a miner and labourer, according to friend Dave Bathurst.

Mr. Bathurst said he met Mr. Zehaf-Bibeau in a Burnaby, B.C., mosque about three years ago. He said his friend did not at first appear to have extremist views or inclinations toward violence – but at times exhibited a disturbing side.

“We were having a conversation in a kitchen, and I don’t know how he worded it: He said the devil is after him,” Mr. Bathurst said in an interview. He said his friend frequently talked about the presence of Shaytan in the world – an Arabic term for devils and demons. “I think he must have been mentally ill.”

Mr. Bathurst last saw Mr. Zehaf-Bibeau praying in a Vancouver-area mosque six weeks ago. He spoke of wanting to go to the Middle East soon.

“He wanted to go back to Libya and study,” Mr. Bathurst said. He urged his friend to make sure study was on his mind and “not something else.”

Mr. Zehaf-Bibeau insisted he was only going abroad with the intent of learning about Islam and to study Arabic.

Both Canadian men, along with Major Hasan, appear to be mentally disturbed, or at least anti-social. The problem is that Islamic scripture provides justification and encouragement for violence enacted against kufrs, people who do not subscribe to Islamic doctrine.

Yes, most Muslims do not act on these exhortations. But the problem is that angry, anti-social, and mentally disturbed individuals can seize on these doctrines and act on them. ISIS is currently encouraging such actions, and they have ample support from Islamic theology in doing so.

Those are facts. They are uncomfortable for multiculturalists, but they are also a clear and present danger. Islam is different from all the world’s other major religions. We need to recognize that and treat Islam differently when it comes to immigration and especially proselytization in prisons, one of the major sources of Muslim converts in the United States. Is that religious discrimination? Yes. But the Constitution is not a suicide pact, in the words of Justice Jackson.

Mr. President, You Lie
By John Dale Dunn

This month Harper Collins published the latest book by investigative journalist, essayist, novelist, frequent American Thinker contributor Jack Cashill, You Lie! The Evasions, Omissions, Fabrications, Frauds, and Outright Falsehoods of Barack Obama, a thorough dissection of Obama lies and perfidy with 259 pages of text and 22 pages of endnotes.

Jack Cashill is a fearless and effective advocate for traditional values and constitutional sensible government, who persuades with intelligent writing and in depth impeccable research. He has been involved in a multi-year effort to expose Barack Obama as an exceptionally incompetent and misguided, even malicious man.

I recommend this latest book You Lie, as a product of Jack’s exceptional efforts to expose the fraud and deceptions of Barack Obama.

Jack’s research many years ago uncovered the fact that Bill Ayers was the real author of the much-acclaimed book, supposedly written by Obama, Dreams from My Father (1995). Much of Cashill’s research on the literary fraud appeared in American Thinker postings and was the result of Cashill’s professional expertise as an editor, and his use of editing and literature style computer analysis tool to compare Dreams, supposedly by Obama, to Bill Ayers' biographical book, Fugitive Days (2001).

Cashill made a compelling, convincing case for Ayers role as the ghostwriter of Dreams, a book that the left asserted was proof of Obama’s heft and intellectual superiority. Cashill also looked at all of Obama’s writings from high school, college, law school, even his submissions to the Hyde Park Newspaper after he was ensconced as a Lecturer in Constitutional Law at University of Chicago Law School, one of the premier law schools in the nation for the usual reason Obama got anything -- his color. At the University of Chicago he was minimally adequate and not a scholar, but he was black and they had a paucity of black faculty. For the Hyde Park paper, in a south Chicago neighborhood, he wrote regular essays, but he was not only pedestrian, he was, by any measure marginally literate, ungrammatical and clumsy, not the lucid and eloquent writer of Dreams.

In 2011 Cashill reviewed and summarized his research on the Obama myth and deceptions in the book Deconstructing Obama: The Life Loves, and Letters of America’s First Postmodern President.
