ISRAEL'S ACHIEVEMENTS IN THE FIRST MONTHS OF 2008
1. Scientists in Israel, found that the brackish water, drilled
from underground desert aquifers, hundreds of feet deep, could be used to
raise warm-water fish. The geothermal water, less than one-tenth as saline
as sea water, free of pollutants, and a toasty 98 degrees on average, proves
an ideal environment.

2. Israeli-developed designer-eyeglasses, promise mobile phone
and iPod users, a personalized, high-tech video display. Available to US
consumers next year, Lumus-Optical's lightweight and fashionable video
eyeglasses, feature a large transparent screen, floating in front of the
viewer's face that projects their choice of movie, TV show, or video Game.

3. When Stephen Hawkins visited Israel recently, he shared his
wisdom with scientists, students, and even the Prime Minister. But the
world's most renown victim of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), or Lou
Gehrig's disease, also learned something, due to the Israeli Association for
ALS' advanced work in both embryonic and adult stem cell research, as well
as its proven track record with neurodegenerative diseases. The Israeli
research community is well on its way, to finding a treatment for this fatal
disease, which affects 30,000 Americans.

4. Israeli start-up, Veterix, has developed an innovative new
electronic capsule that sits in the stomach of a cow, sheep, or goat,
sending out real-time information on the health of the herd, to the farmer
via Email or cell phone. The e-capsule, which also sends out alerts if
animals are distressed, injured, or lost, is now being tested on a herd of
cows, in the hopes that the device will lead to tastier and healthier meat
and milk supplies.

5. The millions of Skype users worldwide will soon have access to
the newly developed KishKish lie-detector. This free internet service, based
on voice stress analysis (a technique, commonly used in criminal
investigations), will be able to measure just how truthful that person on
the other end of the line, really is.

6. Beating cardiac tissue has been created in a lab from human
embryonic stem cells by researchers at the Rappaport Medical Faculty and
the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology's biomedical Engineerin g
faculty. The work of Dr. Shulamit Levenberg and Prof. Lior Gepstein, has
also led to the creation of tiny blood vessels within the tissue, making
possible its implantation in a human heart.

7. Israel's Magal Security Systems, is a worldwide leader in
computerized security systems, with products used in more than 70 countries
around the world, protecting anything from national borders, to nuclear
facilities, refineries, and airports. The company's latest Product,
DreamBox, a state-of-the-art security system that includes Intelligent
video, audio and sensor management, is now being used by a major water
authority on the US east coast to safeguard the utility's sites.

8. It is common knowledge that dogs have better night vision than
humans and a vastly superior sense of smell and hearing. Israel's
Bio-Sense Technologies, recently delved further, and electronically
analyzed 350 different barks. Finding that dogs of all breeds and sizes,
bark the same alarm when they sense a threat, the firm has designed the dog
bark-reader, a sensor that can pick up a dog's alarm bark, and alert the
human operators. This is just one of a batch of innovative security systems
to emerge from Israel, which Forbes calls 'the go-to country for
anti-terrorism technologies.'

9. Israeli company, BioControl Medical, sold its first electrical
stimulator to treat urinary incontinence to a US company for $50 Million.
Now, it is working on CardioFit, which uses electrical nerve stimulation to
treat congestive heart failure. With nearly five million Americans presently
affected by heart failure, and more than 400,000 new cases diagnosed yearly,
the CardioFit is already generating a great deal of excitement as the first
device with the potential to halt this deadly disease.

10. One year after Norway's Socialist Left Party launched its
boycott Israel campaign, the importing of Israeli goods has increased by
15%, the strongest increase in many years, Statistics Norway reports. In
contrast to the efforts of tiny Israel to make contributions to the world so
as to better mankind, one has to ask what have those who have strived to
eliminate Israel from the face of the earth done other than to create hate
and bloodshed.

The kike filth are trying to steal this election from us. But this is our time. The kike live in fear of peace. They fear happiness. The thought of people living happily in peace without killing each other frightens the horde of kike that runs our government. But when pieces of kike use their kike manipulation tactics to stop Barack, it is time to strike back. There is nothing a kike army can do when faced with progressive people who are determined to achieve peace. We will achieve lasting peace.

Scholar: Quran says Israel belongs to Jews
Contends Islam's book decrees land is for people of Mose

A contrarian Muslim professor claims the Quran actually teaches Israel belongs to the Jews.

Khaleel Mohammed, assistant professor of religious studies at San Diego State University, said in an interview with Frontpage Magazine the person most mentioned in Islam's holy book is Moses, the great Old Testament prophet and leader of the Israelites.

Mohammed says the Quran presents Moses "as God's revolutionary" who "leads a people despised and tormented for no other reason than that they worshipped God, out of the land of bondage to the Promised Holy Land."

The professor quotes from Chapter 5: 20-21, which says Moses declared, "O my people! Remember the bounty of God upon you when He bestowed prophets upon you, and made you kings and gave you that which had not been given to anyone before you amongst the nations. O my people! Enter the Holy Land which God has written for you, and do not turn tail, otherwise you will be losers."

Mohammed points specifically to the reference to the Holy Land as a place God has "written" for the Israelites, a term that conveys, in Jewish and Islamic understandings, a "meaning of finality, decisiveness and immutability."

"So the simple fact is then," he says, "from a faith-based point of view: If God has 'written' Israel for the people of Moses, who can change this?"

The professor describes himself as a scholar "interested in a moderate Islam, one that is inclusive and is concerned about all human rights."

"My mission is to help reclaim the beauty that once was practiced in Islam, a message not currently in fashion amongst more traditional or fundamentalist Muslims," he told Frontpage.

Mohammed said while Muslims may argue the present state of Israel was "not created in the most peaceful means, and that many were displaced," this, for him, is not the issue.

"The issue," says Mohammed, "is that when the Muslims entered that land in the 7th century, they were well aware of its rightful owners, and when they failed to act according to divine mandate (at least as perceived by followers of all Abrahamic faiths), they aided and abetted in a crime. And the present situation shows the fruits of that action -- wherein innocent Palestinians and Israelis are being killed on a daily basis."

He says medieval scholars, "without any exception known to me," interpreted the Quran to recognize Israel as belonging to the Jews.

According to Mohammed, the idea that Israel does not belong to the Jews is a modern one, "probably based on the Mideast rejection of European colonialism, etc., but certainly not having anything to do with the Quran."

Most Muslims, he laments, do not read the Quran for themselves and instead rely on imams and preachers to do the reading and interpreting for them.

The anti-Israel hysteria
By Pilar Rahola

I understand that you want to wipe us off the map, just don't expect us to help you attain that goal. The fact that this old sentiment - the gist of a line uttered by a caustic Golda Meir to the Palestinian leadership - is so relevant these days, gives us a sense of the scope of the tragedy the Holy Land has been suffering through for so many decades.

In fact, this same idea - the need for continued efforts to curb the intended destruction of Israel - lies behind the dramatic military decision made by the Israeli government, one that has again made it an object of wrath for so many around the world.

As Prof. Joan B. Culla said recently, there can be multiple reactions to the Israel Defense Forces' military incursion in the Gaza Strip, and some of these are justifiably critical. But, given the fact that hysterical reactions abound, lacking any semblance of calm reflection, and based strictly on Manichaeanism and prejudice, there are some questions that must be asked.
Ari Shavit wrote recently in Haaretz ("A Just but Tragic War," January 1) that "Operation Cast Lead is a just campaign" and that it is also a "tragic campaign." I disagree with the term "just," because, as Golda Meir also said, "We don't want wars, even when we win." A military incursion that causes dozens of deaths can never be considered just, even if it is aimed at the destruction of the Hamas military machine. But can it be considered inevitable?

Some intellectuals, including Amos Oz, have already warned that the Gaza incursion will lead to a significant new wave of anti-Israel sentiment. But even the Israeli left has taken a very lukewarm position about the incursion. The decision to attack Hamas was made by an Israeli society suffering from fatigue, fed up of not being able to find a way out, or reason for hope. And fed up, too, of the knowledge that the other side is working tirelessly to destroy it.

Here they are, then, the questions, directed particularly to those carrying signs proclaiming their hatred of Israel through the streets of our cities - most of them the usual suspects, from the certain ones belonging to the radical left, always ready to raise their fist against Israel, to the various sectors of Islamism. It's curious, in fact, this obscene partnership.

Those who go into the streets claim to do so in favor of the freedom of Palestine. Well, where have they been all these years, as the fundamentalist phenomena that oppressed the Palestinians were on the rise? Does Hamas have anything to do with freedom, or rather, doesn't it have everything to do with Islamism of a fascist tendency? Is freedom defended by training children to commit suicide attacks and by enslaving women? Is freedom defended by Iran, which supports Hamas financially? Does freedom belong to the terrorists of Hezbollah?

Those who protest in the streets also say they do so out of solidarity. Well, solidarity with whom? With Mahmoud Abbas, the Palestinian president, who has been less critical of the incursion than any European carrying a sign? With the Palestinians who do not agree with having the financial aid sent to their people being used to build armies and prepare bomb attacks? Do they wonder what happens to these funds? Does solidarity with the Palestinians mean defending terrorism and excusing Hamas' aggressions? Is peace defended by boosting Palestinian leaders who do not believe in it?

It is true that the intolerant left lives better by being anti-Israel. And it is also true that, in the face of complex realities, the vociferous masses prefer the simplicity of the "good" and the "bad." But, beyond prejudice, facts are stubborn. Israel withdrew from Gaza, leaving intact the economic structures it had created. Hamas destroyed them all, and took advantage of the withdrawal to prepare an army of destruction. And hundreds of missiles later, it continues its preparations.

The silence of this left, which is so loud today, has been very significant. What is happening in Gaza is tragic. But it did not start with the Israeli incursion. And to put all the blame on Israel is comfortable and simple, but useless. Because the main enemy of the Palestinian people comes from within.

Dec. 15, 2006
Iran and Hamas Call for Destruction of Israel

Just days before Tehran held a Holocaust denial conference condemned around the world, Iranian and Palestinian leaders met in Tehran and reiterated their calls for the destruction of Israel. Iran’s sponsorship of terrorist groups like Hamas and pursuit of nuclear arms, coupled with its president’s call for “a world without the United States and Zionism,” underscore the increasing danger posed in the Middle East and beyond by this extremist regime.

Calling for Israel’s Destruction

During the recent meetings, Iran’s President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad pledged $250 million to support the Hamas-led PA, which has refused to meet internationally backed demands to end violence and recognize the Jewish state. Ahmadinejad and Palestinian Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh also reaffirmed their shared commitment to the annihilation of the Jewish state. Below are some recent statements from the extremist Hamas leadership and its Iranian sponsors:

• “The generation currently standing up to the Zionists, which shaped up the first and second intifadas, included young individuals with lofty aspirations. This generation will liberate Palestine.”—Palestinian Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh in a meeting with Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei (Islamic Republic News Agency, Dec. 10, 2006)

• “Resistance is the only solution and the Palestinian government will never recognize Israel.”—Palestinian Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh in a meeting with Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei (Agence France Press, Dec. 10, 2006)

• “I have no doubt that one day Palestine will be governed by the Palestinians. … Through struggle and resistance, the return to the Palestinians of all the territory of Palestine, in all of its parts, is possible and one day this will be realized.” —Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei in a meeting with Palestinian Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh (Agence France Presse, Dec. 10, 2006)

• “The imposed pressures of the Zionist regime against [the] people and government of Palestine will not last long and the U.S., as the most important supporter of the forged regime, is weakening and decaying, and the conspiracies of the enemies of Islam to shatter the resistance of Palestinian people will be defeated.”—Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in a meeting with Palestinian Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh (Islamic Republic News Agency, Dec. 10, 2006)

[
Denying the Holocaust

Iran’s conference questioning the history of the Holocaust sought to undermine international justification for the creation of the modern state of Israel in the aftermath of World War II. Hamas also has a long history of denying this fact and its leaders have backed Ahmadinejad’s past efforts minimize the scope of the Nazi atrocities.

• “If the official version of the Holocaust is thrown into doubt, then the identity and nature of Israel will be thrown into doubt.”—Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki during the opening session of the Holocaust conference (The Daily Telegraph, Dec. 13. 2006)

• “Based on the facts gained by the team [Iran called for a committee to determine whether the Holocaust happened], if the Holocaust’s truth is ruled out, root causes of problems and crimes in the Middle East region will be terminated.” —Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad (Islamic Republic News Agency, Dec. 13, 2006)

• “The Muslim public supported Iran on this issue in the past and will also support it in the future.”— Hamas leader Khaled Meshaal defending statements by Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad denying the Holocaust (Ha’aretz, Dec. 16, 2005)

Pursuing Nuclear Weapons

As Iran continues to call for Israel’s destruction and deny the Holocaust, the Iranian regime continues to defy the international community in its relentless pursuit of nuclear weapons. Tehran announced recently that it installed more centrifuges, which can be used to produce highly enriched uranium for nuclear warheads.

• “Resistance of the Iranian nation in the past year forced them to retreat tens of steps over the nuclear issue. … We have started installing 3,000 centrifuges.”— Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad (Associated Press, Dec. 9, 2006)

• “Thanks to the grace of God and [the Iranian people’s] resistance, we are on the final stage of the path to the nuclear peak. Not more than one step is left to be taken. By the end of the [Iranian calendar year, which corresponds to the English date of March 20, 2007], we will organize a celebration across the country to mark the stabilization of our nuclear rights.”—Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad (Associated Press, Dec. 6, 2006)

• “I’m telling you in plain language that as of now on, if you try, whether in your propaganda or at international organizations, to take steps against the rights of the Iranian nation [for nuclear weapons], the Iranian nation will consider it an act of hostility. … And if you insist on pursuing this path, [Iran] will reconsider its relations with you.”—Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad (Associated Press, Dec. 6, 2006)

Amnesty qui se reveille finalement !!!!

Amnesty: Hamas targeted rivals during war

GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip (AP) —

Hamas militants or security forces killed two dozen people and beat or tortured scores more during and after Israel's recent Gaza offensive, Amnesty International said in a report released Tuesday.

Many of those targeted had been detained on charges of spying for Israel and were killed after fleeing a Gaza prison damaged in Israeli airstrikes, the report said.

Others were former security officers for the Palestinian Authority or members of Hamas' rival Fatah movement, the report said.

Many of the victims were abducted from their homes by Hamas gunmen or security officers and later found dead, the report said. Others were beating or shot through the legs, many permanently injured, Amnesty said.

Amnesty's findings echo recent reports by Palestinian human rights groups. The Palestinian Center for Human Rights said that 32 people had been killed during and after the war and dozens more beaten. PCHR said its information pointed to Hamas only in some cases.

U.S. now sees Iran as pursuing nuclear bomb
In a reversal since a 2007 report, U.S. officials expect the Islamic Republic to reach development milestones this year.

February 12, 2009

Reporting from Washington -- Little more than a year after U.S. spy agencies concluded that Iran had halted work on a nuclear weapon, the Obama administration has made it clear that it believes there is no question that Tehran is seeking the bomb.

In his news conference this week, President Obama went so far as to describe Iran's "development of a nuclear weapon" before correcting himself to refer to its "pursuit" of weapons capability.

Orchard Park man charged with beheading his wife
By Gene Warner

Orchard Park police are investigating a particularly gruesome killing, the beheading of a woman, after her husband — an influential member of the local Muslim community — reported her death to police Thursday.

Police identified the victim as Aasiya Z. Hassan, 37. Detectives have charged her husband, Muzzammil Hassan, 44, with second-degree murder.

"He came to the police station at 6:20 p.m. [Thursday] and told us that she was dead," Orchard Park Police Chief Andrew Benz said late this morning.

Muzzammil Hassan told police that his wife was at his business, Bridges TV, on Thorn Avenue in the village. Officers went to that location and discovered her body.

Muzzammil Hassan is the founder and chief executive officer of Bridges TV, which he launched in 2004, amid hopes that it would help portray Muslims in a more positive light.

The killing apparently occurred some time late Thursday afternoon. Detectives still are looking for the murder weapon.

"Obviously, this is the worst form of domestic violence possible," Erie County District Attorney Frank A. Sedita III said today.

Authorities say Aasiya Hassan recently had filed for divorce from her husband.

"She had an order of protection that had him out of the home as of Friday the 6th [of February]," Benz said.

Muzzammil Hassan was arraigned before Village Justice Deborah Chimes and sent to the Erie County Holding Centre.

CONGLICT: SEEN MAINLY AS RELIGIOUS

By ETGAR LEFKOVITS of the Jerusalem Post

Prof. Bernard Lewis

"I think that in the Muslim perception, [the conflict] is basically a religious conflict," said Prof. Bernard Lewis in an address at the sixth annual Jerusalem Conference. "It is to decide who will dominate Islam, and whose version of Islam will prevail in the Islamic world."

The world-renowned historian and Princeton University professor emeritus said that the Iranian nuclear threat has led moderate Arab countries in the Middle East to forge quiet alliances with Israel, as was evident in the recent military operation against Hamas in Gaza.

"This represents a mortal threat to established Arab regimes in the region, and like Sadat in his day - but for even more compelling reasons - they are looking to Israel for help in dealing with what they see as the major threat," Lewis said.

He made the remarks at the concluding session of the conference in a half-hour-long conversation with Dan Diker of the Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs.

Lewis said the recurrence of what he dubbed the "Sadat gambit" - a realization that other threats were far more dangerous than Israel - came as for the first time in centuries, the predominantly Sunni Muslim world was seeing Shi'itism as a "mortal threat" to Sunni ascendancy, which has prevailed in the Muslim world since time immemorial.

The nonagenarian historian, who first used the phrase "the clash of civilizations" 11 years before the 9/11 terror attacks on the US, noted that nuclear weapons in the hands of an Islamic regime with an "apocalyptic mind-set" represented an unprecedented danger.

"Mutual assured destruction was the main deterrent preventing the use of nuclear weapons by the Soviets," Lewis said. "For [Iranian President Mahmoud] Ahmadinejad and his group, with their apoclayptic mind-set, mutual assured destruction is not a deterrent but an inducement."

He said there was a woeful lack of awareness of both the magnitude and threat of the jihadist goal of radical Islam, stemming from both ignorance and a provincial colonialist outlook of the threat as "some local trouble."

Lewis said that the best hope for the future in the Muslim world was the spread of democracy in places where previously it would have been inconceivable - a phenomenon he dubbed "the Sharansky effect" after former MK and prisoner of Zion Natan Sharansky, who has argued that democracy is the basis for peace.

"It is still limited, precarious and dangerous, but it is happening, and that is the best hope for the future," he concluded.

PERES'S MEA CULPA

: I was wrong about disengagement
By ETGAR LEFKOVITS

President Shimon Peres said Wednesday that he had erred in supporting Israel's unilateral withdrawal from Gaza.

The revealing remarks come three years after Israel's evacuation of the volatile coastal strip which has since been seized by Hamas.

"Whatever will happen in the future, we shall not repeat the mistakes we made in leaving Gaza," Peres said in a question and answer session with a group of American Jewish leaders. "It should have been done otherwise. I was for leaving Gaza. I consider myself as one of the persons mistaken."

The dovish leader, who has long been a champion of Israeli territorial withdrawals, said that although "lessons must be drawn" from the 2005 unilateral Gaza pullout, demographic and democratic considerations still necessitate the creation of a Palestinian state.

"It doesn't change the fact that there is a [demographic] reality," he told the annual Israel meeting of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations. "I want to make sure that the state we have remains Jewish."

Soldier doubts eligibility, defies president's orders
'As an officer, my sworn oath to support and defend our Constitution requires this

Soldier Scott Easterling

A U.S. soldier on active duty in Iraq has called President Obama an "impostor" in a statement in which he affirmed plans to join as plaintiff in a challenge to Obama's eligibility to be commander in chief.

The statement was publicized by California attorney Orly Taitz who, along with her Defend Our Freedom Foundation, is working on a series of legal cases seeking to uncover Obama's birth records and other documents that would reveal whether he meets the requirements of the U.S. Constitution.

"As an active-duty officer in the United States Army, I have grave concerns about the constitutional eligibility of Barack Hussein Obama to hold the office of president of the United States," wrote Scott Easterling in a "to-whom-it-may-concern" letter.

Soros sees no bottom for world financial "collapse"
Sat Feb 21, 2009

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Renowned investor George Soros said on Friday the world financial system has effectively disintegrated, adding that there is yet no prospect of a near-term resolution to the crisis.

Soros said the turbulence is actually more severe than during the Great Depression, comparing the current situation to the demise of the Soviet Union.

He said the bankruptcy of Lehman Brothers in September marked a turning point in the functioning of the market system.

"We witnessed the collapse of the financial system," Soros said at a Columbia University dinner. "It was placed on life support, and it's still on life support. There's no sign that we are anywhere near a bottom."

His comments echoed those made earlier at the same conference by Paul Volcker, a former Federal Reserve chairman who is now a top adviser to President Barack Obama.

Volcker said industrial production around the world was declining even more rapidly than in the United States, which is itself under severe strain.

"I don't remember any time, maybe even in the Great Depression, when things went down quite so fast, quite so uniformly around the world," Volcker said.
